Dr. S. Sadagopan, a distinguished academic and visionary leader, has made significant contributions to the field of information technology and education. He holds a Ph.D. from Purdue University in the United States. He is also a graduate of Madras University, India. His teaching career spans over 35 years, during which he has imparted knowledge at prestigious institutions such as IIT Kanpur, IIM Bangalore, IIT Madras, and IIIT Bangalore. Additionally, he has taken up short teaching assignments at Rutgers University (USA) and AIT Bangkok.
Dr. Sadagopan’s research interests are diverse and include areas such as Operations Research, Multi-criteria Optimization Decision Theory, Simulation, Enterprise Computing, Programming Languages, Databases, Multimedia, and e-Governance.
He has authored seven books, numerous book chapters, and research papers. Dr. Sadagopan is a Fellow of the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) in the UK and the Computer Society of India. He is also a Senior Member of IEEE, ACM, and AIS.
Dr. Sadagopan consults across various industry segments, including Automotive, Manufacturing Banking, IT, and the Social Sector. His expertise extends globally, as he lectures extensively at corporations, industry events, and universities in North America, South America, Europe, Middle East, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.
He has served on the boards of organizations such as Bharat Electronics, Neyveli Lignite Corporation, Indian Renewable Energy Agency, IIIT Bhubaneshwar, IIIT Delhi, and IBAB. Dr. Sadagopan is a featured columnist for the Times of India, the world’s largest circulated English newspaper. He actively contributes to the popular press and shares insights on various aspects of Information Technology.
He is the founder and Ex-Director of IIIT Bangalore having multifaceted career exemplifying his commitment to education, research, and industry collaboration. His impact resonates across continents, making him a true luminary in the field of technology and education.
Dr. Sadagopan is the Chairperson of the Governing Council of RIMSR. Under his leadership, RIMSR has grown in leaps and bounds both in its relevance and contribution to “Skill Development” throughout the length and breadth of India.
